What is the most badass instrument on earth? No, not the guitar, not the drums: the organ. Just listen to this and tell me this does not reach your soul.

Which instrument is a good second? The synthesizer. Just like the organ, it can go extremely hard and loud. So loud, it tickles something in your brain and, in my case, releases tension I didn’t know I had. Ahhh, the power of music. I just call these experiences what they are: musical orgasms.

These are three songs in which the synthesizer goes HARD.

Emerson, Lake & Palmer – Lucky Man (1970)

The hard bit of the synthesizer is at the end of the song, so you have to stay for the buildup. When it comes, though, ohhhh boy. It goes HARD.

UK – Rendezvous 6.02 (1979)

This time, the part that goes hard is in the middle of the song. It’s a very nice back and forth instrumental bit between a piano and different types of synthesizers.

Carpenter Brut – Paradise Warfare (2015)

This song is a bit different from the other two. It’s more recent, and electronic music instead of rock music. Again, you have to hang around for the buildup, but when the release comes, it’s absolute cathartic. The saxophone is a nice touch.
